Day 29
This morning we was pleasantly surprised that the sun was out so we took full advantage of the weather and started out to explore the city.
This of course started with breakfast which gave us the energy to walk around town. We basically just walked around and stopped at places that looked interesting, which included Robson, Gastown, Chinatown and the Vancouver convention centre which is where the cruise ships are, there was a Dutch ship in which was going to Alaska and was boarding, Lorna wanted to stay to see it depart but we figured it was going to be hours yet and persuaded her to leave.
It was all getting a bit tiring so we decided to have lunch back at our hotel where we was able to sit outside to eat, and of course drink, this was when we noticed the “Big Red Bus” pull up right outside our hotels entrance.
Now not thinking I was going to do a bus tour gain I was beginning to get anxious but Sandy went into the Hotel to ask for details and it turns out that it goes to all the places we were thinking of going to and as parking is really expensive it was better to use the hop on, hop off bus, so tomorrow we are going to go to some more places and use the bus to take us around the city.
So with a few hours spare we decided what to do, me and Ken thought a game of bowling would be a good idea as we didn’t get to do it last night but we was met with a firm objection. Lorna wanted to get her nails done and Sandy wanted to shop (no surprises there then). So we parted and me and Ken went to the bowling alley whilst Lorna & Sandy went to the nail salon and some shopping.
Well we definitely lost that deal, when we got to the bowling alley it was a stupid shrunken version of bowling with balls about a third of the size and the pins were on ropes and about half the size. What a pile of crap that was, so we had a slow walk back to the hotel and waited for the ladies to turn up.
Tonight we are going for a Chinese meal close to the hotel but not in Chinatown, that place was more like a ghetto and we was advised not to go there at night. Full of homeless and drug users. Not nice.
